Below is an account from Annie Chatenka, MWW Group Graphic Designer, on her volunteer efforts at the Rotary Youth Leaders Academy.

Every summer I participate in the Rotary Youth Leaders Academy (RYLA), an intense and fun-filled four day leadership training program sponsored by Rotary District 7500. The program, designed for high school juniors, is run by student leaders who have completed the program and have demonstrated superior leadership skills, within RYLA and in their communities. Student leaders are trained in several areas, including team-building, problem-solving, cooperation and communication skills. Our core values are built on the acronym L.E.A.D.E.R, or Loving, Enthusiastic, Able, Dedicated, Ethical and Responsible.
The mission of RYLA is to unite a team of special individuals and provide ourselves with the most powerful, enjoyable and memorable leadership training we possibly can. As a RYLA volunteer for the last ten years, I have had the opportunity to work with hundreds of student leaders, teaching team-building, problem-solving, cooperation and communication skills. Through RYLA I have had the chance to give back to the community and mentor young adults; providing me with the opportunity to get more out of life while at the same time making a positive contribution to the needs of others.
